Celebrating Five Years with A Colorado Titan 100
April 2022 marks the five year anniversary of PSG’s founding, and we’re celebrating with a bang. CEO Paige Goss was just named a Colorado Titan 100 – a prestigious award for our badass founder. The program recognizes business leaders who demonstrate exceptional leadership, vision, and passion. Having our CEO win that well-deserved award is the icing on the cake of an amazing first five years.
Humble Beginnings with Big Visions
PSG began as a scrappy little start up back in 2017. Paige envisioned a technical services firm that bridged the gap between traditional consulting and staffing firms. Despite not having a technical background, Paige knew she could build a thriving company in the technical space by cultivating a people-centric model.
Without being daunted as a young female in a male-dominated industry, Paige dove in headfirst. She identified the market opportunity in Colorado, and decided to make it her launching ground. (It’s indicative of Point Solution Group’s can-do spirit that Paige launched in Colorado without knowing a single person in the area). In just 43 days in 2017, Paige sold her house in North Carolina, bought a house in Colorado, found out her wife was pregnant with twins and moved across the country… Did we mention we’ve got a can-do spirit?
Getting a Foot in the Door of the Federal Space
Part of what made Colorado appealing was the opportunity for work in both the commercial and federal space. Of course, getting in on the federal side of things involves a lot of bureaucracy. But that didn’t stop us.
In fall of 2017, a partner company brought us in to work on a project with the Marine Corps. We got ourselves facility clearance by Spring 2018 and made sure we were qualified to work on classified contracts. We put together three teams of twelve people and delivered in a span of just three and a half weeks. That project launched us onto a rapid growth trajectory that hasn’t stopped.
Prior to 2021, our work with the Department of Defense was as a subcontractor for other prime contractors. But last year, we won ourselves a prime contract. In other words, between 2018 and 2021, we went from zero security clearance to winning multiple top secret contracts. Have we mentioned that we’re awesome? We now know the ins and outs of government contracts and the security requirements necessary to win them. It’s been great for us and for our clients.
Five Years of Awesome Growth
PSG has achieved a tremendous amount of growth and recognition in just five short years. Last year we made it into the top 500 of Inc. Magazine’s annual list of America’s 5,000 fastest growing companies. We also made the lists of Colorado’s Top 100 Woman Owned Companies and Top 200 Private Companies.
Want to hear something else impressive? From 2017-2020, our revenue grew by 800 percent! That’s a lot of happy clients. We’re proud of the ways we’ve achieved sustained growth every year – continuing to make a bigger impact than the year prior. In 2020, the company organically grew by 80 percent and completed the acquisition of Denver’s KG Lewis.
We attribute our massive growth in 2020 in no small part to COO Sarah Jolly joining the PSG team. Sarah has been an accelerant for growth – helping us to double in size, solidifying systems and processes, and providing a framework for communication. Together, Sarah and Paige cultivated an opportunity for people to be developed alongside the business.
A Community-first Approach to Business
We’ve now got teams all over the country and contracts nationwide. But we’re still very much a Colorado company. In 2021, we expanded our Colorado presence by 40%, landing contracts with one of the largest aerospace companies and other great organizations across the state.
PSG believes in the power of small business as the driver of community, innovation and growth within markets. We want people to innovate, grow, and be involved in things. To be able to say they made an impact on the companies we work with. What we love about the Colorado market is the exceptional cross-section of humans and capital. When you have the two, you build great businesses. And we want to be a part of that.
We thrive on working with up-and-coming companies. Our goal is to create a true business community by helping companies continue to grow. That’s why we’re especially proud of being named one of 2020’s Colorado Companies to Watch – just three years after launching. We love the entrepreneurial spirit we’ve found in Colorado, and it’s very much the place that PSG calls home.
Adding Diversity to the Tech Industry
Point Solutions Group brings together amazing people to drive positive change. Our people are and always will be the core of PSG, with a strong emphasis on diversity and getting women into more leadership roles. How many tech companies have you seen with an all-female leadership team? Yeah, not so many. But we’d love to help change that.
We’ve always kept diversity at the forefront. We closed out 2021 at 35 percent diverse, which is pretty remarkable for a U.S.-based technology company. Point Solutions strives to be a beacon for the next generation of opportunity in technology. We are deeply invested in building people and community – with our leaders serving on the Women’s Chamber of Young Professionals Board, participating in the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, and mentoring young leaders within our organization as well as female founders in the community.
